Nearly a century old, the bright pink beading on this 1927 French flapper dress still stands in vibrant contrast to this cobalt blue silk chiffon shade called Alice blue. Named for the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, Alice blue has not only remained a popular color in fashion, but became one of the original colors for web design in the 1980s.

This dress is very heavily beaded – almost four pounds – with columns of pink and silver tube beads. It emphasizes a dropped waist with a full skirt that has scarf hem. Each point of the hem has more pink flowers

Alice blue remains a visible shade in color palettes used for everything from websites to children’s toys to upholstery.
