Julia Boyd pattern
This house dress and apron was made from a 1930s Julia Boyd pattern. Julia Boyd started designing dresses for her dolls when she was five and ended up graduating from Columbia University in Fine Arts. The pattern was ordered from the “Today’s Pattern” newspaper for 15 cents.
The cotton print has blue, green, and peach interlocking rings and flowers. There is a turquoise collar edged in lace, and cuffs have two shades of green bias tape. The green plastic belt buckle matches buttons on the bodice.
The pattern instructed women to, “Wear the apron for housekeeping and remove it when greeting guests.”
Some spots and discoloration on the cuffs.
