Early 1900s Mariano Fortuny raspberry silk pleated Delphos gown with Murano glass beads. This is a beautiful example of Fortuny’s never-replicated pleating technique. See the other Fortuny gown description for more history.
This dress is from an elderly woman who summered in Maine. She said the original belt deteriorated – it wasn’t the usual hand painted ribbon but the same pleated silk as the gown.
Worn spot on back of dress, small discolored spot on armhole, some discoloration and tearing on neckline given close inspection. Minor repairs at hip. Dress easily expands to 60″” without compromising the pleats.
Signed on interior back seam, “”Made in Italy Fabrique en Italie Fortuny Depose.
