This worsted wool day dress has a Peter Pan collar, and a slightly pleated shoulder. There are front and back yokes, the bodice and hip are fitted, and the skirt has a lovely tulip hemline that led to this dress shape being called a tulip dress. The sleeves are also fitted at the elbows.
This dress was made for Eaton’s, an iconic Canadian department store, of a French rationed fabric. Dresses were limited to one and ¾ yards of fabric. The label is from the Ensemble Shop of Eaton’s and the selvage of the fabric is stamped by the clothmaker Atout. There are several tiny, hard to find repairs.
